Here are the first signs. I have got a Seagate Cheetah hard disk equipped with SAS interface for information recovery.

Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) is a computer interface developed for data exchange with such devices as hard disks, stores on optical disks, and so on. SAS uses a consecutive interface for work with directly connected stores (Direct Attached Storage (DAS) devices).

SAS is developed for replacement of parallel interface SCSI and allows to reach a higher carrying capacity, than SCSI; at the same time SAS is compatible with SATA interface. Though SAS uses a consecutive interface in contrast to a parallel interface used by traditional SCSI, SCSI principle of Service Area building and commands are still used for SAS-devices control.

You can find a detailed information about this interface in Wikipedia.
